President of the European University Sports Association |
Dear Friends,
My warmest welcome to all participants of the European Universities Championships 2023.
The European Universities Championships, as previous editions have proved, are a wonderful occasion to be together and experience the beauty of university sport. I am pleased that a great number of students and officials, sharing their love for sport, respecting Fair Play, competing in truly university sport spirit will meet in many cities across the Europe.
During such events we do more than just sport – we broaden our horizons, get to know other cultures, we promote a healthy society, we stand on the side of peace, respecting and celebrating diversity.
Being the Organizer of the Championship is challenging but at the end rewarding as well. I want to express my appreciation to the Organizing Committees, its Partners and the volunteers who give their crucial contribution to the success of the event. My gratitude extends to the National, Regional and Local Authorities for their auspices of this event.
I believe that the European Universities Championships will bring the participants unforgettable experiences and lots of personal achievements. I hope all of you will enjoy your time, and life-long friendships between European Students will be legacy of all the events.
With wishes of good luck, I welcome you on behalf of EUSA to the European Universities Championships 2023!

President of FADU Portugal |
On behalf of FADU Portugal - University Sports Federation, I welcome all participants of the Aveiro 2023 European Universities Basketball Championship, taking place in Portugal from 23rd to 30th July.
Since the foundation of FADU Portugal, our country has hosted more than 40 international university sport events, at European (EUSA) and World (FISU) level, a legacy that give us all a great expectation to create the best experience and support for all participants.
This is the 3rd EUC basketball edition that Portugal will host, the first time was in Aveiro (2001) and the second in Guimarães (2006). The region of Aveiro has basketball as one of the sports of greater expression and tradition, and for FADU, the University of Aveiro, AAUAv – Student’s Union and the city of Aveiro are a guarantee of make again – 22 years after the first ever edition - this event truly remarkable for all participants.
Sport has a great positive impact on the physical and mental health of students, so we hope that all participants can have a enriching social and sport experience, in the city known as the portuguese Venice, with its traditional sweet ‘ovos moles’ and its ‘moliceiros’, a typical boat used for tours through the canals of the ‘Ria’.
Good luck to everyone and welcome to Portugal! Welcome to the Aveiro 2023 European Universities Basketball Championship!

President of Students Union of University of Aveiro |
Dear Colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to this EUSA competition and to our dear institution, which is more than ready to welcome you in July for the 2023 European Universities Basketball Championship.
This is the second EUSA competition ever organized by AAUAv, and in this sense it is not only an honour for us, but also a huge responsibility. We want it to be a great event that all participants will remember as one of the best they have ever competed in.
Aveiro is a city that they will undoubtedly carry in their hearts, not only for its natural beauty, but also for the sense of community it has. In addition, the university and all its students will be a pleasant surprise for everyone: our campus is unique and believe me, the atmosphere here is undoubtedly inexplicable.
We hope it will be an excellent competition, that you feel Portugal, Aveiro and its students in full, and that you all have an excellent competition.
Good luck to all, and may the best ones win!
